PGA TOUR is expanding its offerings in California, announcing plans to open its first indoor facility in 2020 and to expand to a full-service facility in 2021.
The expansion will see the tour expand from the North Carolina park that opened in 2010 to the full-size indoor facility that opened last year in Carmel.
The PGA will also open its 2018 season in Santa Monica, California.
The tour, which will begin playing its first event in California in 2019, will be based at Universal Studios Hollywood, where the tour will be playing the 2018 PGA Championship, along with other major tours, and at the new PGA Center in Los Angeles.
The company will open its second outdoor facility in 2019 in Santa Barbara, California, and the new facilities will be called the Santa Monica Pavilion and the Santa Barbara Pavilion.
“The tour has made a huge investment in the California market,” said Kevin D’Arcy, president and CEO of the PGA of America.
“We are thrilled to be in California with the PPGA Tour and our partners to help make it even more of a destination for golf fans in the Pacific Northwest.”
The PPG’s 2018 schedule will include events in Los Angles and Orange counties, as well as other areas of Southern California, including San Bernardino and Orange, where a major part of the tour’s growth is occurring.
